The gastronomists of Kolkata has a new heaven of pure vegetarian food page in the form of Zaairah a multi-cuisine restaurant serving India, Chinese, Continental and Mexican cuisine. Bloggers of PanchPhoron had an exclusive invite to try few of their specialties.
We started with innovative and silky smooth smoothies and shakes like Drunken Oreo Madness, Kitkat Sundae and Strawberry Litchi Fizz.
This was accompanied by spicy, refreshing and sparkling mocktails like Watermelon Mojito, Ginger Rock Salt Delight and Chili Guava.
Moving to appetizers we witnessed few innovations and fusions left us amazed. Khichidi Arancini has stuffing of khichdi mixed with cheese and a crispy coating of masala papad flakes served on base of sundried tomato chutney. Tartar Tots has filing of mashed potato and mozzarella cheese deep fried with panco crumb coating for that crispy outer shell and soft succulent inside. Basil Pesto Panner Tikka has cottage cheese cubes grilled with basil leave paste for that amazing mix and colour. Motilal Badami Aloo has boiled potatoes stuffed with mixture of mashed cottage cheese, mawa, hang curd and peanut for that nutty texture grilled perfectly for that golden orange colour. Babycorn Takrai is a crisply fried baby corn tossed with red chili, garlic, ginger, galangal, lemon grass and basil leaves to create a fusion of Chinese and Thai cuisine. The baby corns are really crispy not soggy.

In their continental, we had the classic and traditional Veg Lasagna but the worth to mention was Spaghetti Aglio Olio. The Italian spaghetti dish has a strong garlic flavour which we don’t get in a dish once cooked. But here the garlic flakes were soaked in milk and crispy fried and tossed in wok with spaghetti for a strong flavour. One of my all time favourites.

The main course showcased few legendary Indian cuisines like Aloo Gobi Adraki, Kadai Paneer, Malai Kofta, Peas Pulao and Dal Makhani. While in bread basket one must try Peshwari Nan along with Pudian Lachha Paratha and Potato Cheese Kulcha. Though we have tried these dishes in many restaurants but the way it has been cooked at Zaairah to retain those flavours of Indian spices with keep you craving for more.

The feast can not be over without the desserts. And we were presented with Classic Cheese Cake. The uniqueness of the dish was its softness and not tough cheese cake we get in many cafes. The softness of the cake was maintained by using only Philadelphia Cheese and not mixing with your cheese to get that toughness. The garnish was done by blueberry compote and served inside fine sugar nest. What a mind blowing presentation.

Located opposite City Center 1, Salt Lake is serving some of the mouth-watering delicacies which boast of both quality and superb taste. Of course a great family dining ambiance and a relaxing sports lounge.
